VCI-Survey: You have the choice

Written by Germany Thorsten Sass Staff

Dear Pilots,

as you probably already know, we at Virtual Cargo International has always an open ear for every pilot who joined us, is active and like to support our very special but beautiful virtual company. Since the release in January 2nd, 2018 we grew fast and stable what makes me very happy, of course. If you are new to us please take a look to our Help-Center, in detail to the iBase2Go Change Log section. Now it is time to get a deeper look from our pilots perspective, this is why we want to ask you a few questions. I would therefore like to express my thanks in advance for supporting us so well and for wanting to take part in the survey.

First VCI-Survey

With this pilot survey we would like to try to improve our organisation, steer our constantly added routes and aircraft in a different direction if it is due, and possibly fix other issues that we did not have in mind at the moment, but from a normal pilots point of view might be disturbing or bad. You'll help us a lot to improve our services and workflow so please spend for us some time! Don't worry, you only need a few minutes to complete this survey and there is nothing complicated :)

To start the survey, just click here!
(powered by google forms)

For any further help, our staff and fellow pilots would love to help you, just join our Discord-Server with currently over 650 members.

Our first turboprop based airline

Written by Germany Thorsten Sass Staff

Hey Pilots,

a got awesome news for any who loves turboprop aircraft. I recently added a new cargo airline called RAF-Avia, a Latvian airline based in Riga. RAF-Avia flies the Antonov An-26, the ATR's and also the Saab 340B mostly in Europe from one up to five-hour flights. Our current database present over 170 unique schedules. With our new turboprop based airline, I also published our new hub in Riga(EVRA/RIX). Our livery center is also filled with the correct liveries for FSX, P3D and X-Plane 11, please take also a look at our Download Center if you are searching for the popular Antonov AN-26B/24 (NATO reporting name: Curl) for X-Plane 11.

The credits are going to VCI4492 - Dragoljub Blagojevic who collected all the flights and also provided us with some nice repaints!

Another topic from above, I'll be not available at all for the next few days. Some of you probably know that in Germany many many people lost their whole possessions because of a lot of rain, several little towns are completely flooded! Houses, streets and, railroads are all gone. As a volunteer firefighter, a group of a few people including me, we are gonna help in this particular disaster area and try to help a little as best we can.

Flying with X-Plane on a MaxOS based system

Written by Germany Thorsten Sass Staff

Hey Pilots,

I just want to inform you guys about Bellerophon. For everybody who are using a MacOS based system and didn't know how to get smartCARS 2 working to log their flight for our iBase2Go system. I added a little walkthrough in our smartCARS help page and divided the information in two sections for Windows and MacOS based systems. So every simmer who using X-Plane and MacOS are now able to log his flight without any problems.

The necessary program "Bellerophon" is available in our Download Center. Thanks to Bennett Sutton who has figured everything out and send me some screenshots.

New Features, Events and iBase2Go 2.1

Written by Germany Thorsten Sass Staff

iBase2Go Version 2.1

With the last major release of iBase2Go 2.0 we left some minor bugs and issues which are now fixed. Thanks to everybody who let me know about the little things who didn't worked as expected.
Go to Virtual Cargo International

Flightplandatabase and current routes

The next step to provide up-to-date data was the implemention of flightplandatabase.com! All our routes are now overhauled with tha current AIRAC cycle 2102 and gets automatically updated every six weeks. Now you would probably think, why every six weeks and not every four? This depends on the type of data we're processing through their API system and of course of the amount of schedules we have. But for now we are more than up-to-date!

New airlines and airports

Thanks to all donors who donated to Virtual Cargo International I was able to pull a lot of new destinations and arrivals direct from flightaware. This resulted in seven new airlines with over 1000 new unique routes, new destinations, new arrivals and new countries who are now ready to visit. In the same sentence I want to say welcome to our new Airbus A300-600ST (Beluga) what we're now able to fly in X-Plane 11.

Airbus Transport International   Cargojet Airways   China Cargo Airlines   Singapore Airlines Cargo   West Atlantic   Avianca Cargo   Qatar Airways Cargo

New "Personal Sceneries" system

Virtual Cargo International provides you the opportunity to create a list of all your personal sceneries to our database and display all entries on a map. If you have added your airports, a new feature comes available to our booking center which search and find only flights where you have a scenery available. If the wanted airport does not exist in our database you can easily added your airport scenery manually, because our schedules getting always updates so maybe your scenery will find the way to us later on.

Tours & Cargo Event announcement

With all the new airline contracts we made it was a pleasure for me to create three new tours you can now sign-up and fly. There we've the Airbus in Europe, Wonders of the World and Circle around Asia Tour. As an official VATSIM cirtual company we have the pleasure to announce events from time to time. I want to invite every pilot to join the "Leipzig Cargo Night" on March 13th 17:00 - 22:00 UTC. An unique cargo operation event with full ATC coverage! And please remember for every VATSIM flight and event please add the following remark: OPR/VIRTUALCARGO.INTERNATIONAL

Free HUB transfer

As we added a lot of new airlines and HUBs, all HUB transfers are free for a short amount of time. So log-in to our iBase2Go System and request your HUB transfer now for free!

Thank you!

As always thanks so much to everyone who joined us, supports or donated to Virtual Cargo International! If you want to get in touch with me, our staff or pilots feel free to join our discord, there are always friendly members who are willing to help you out or just talk about aviation.

Major update iBase2Go 2.0

Written by Germany Thorsten Sass Staff

Hey Pilots,

I hope everyone does well during the covid pandemic and all enjoy life as possible! As you guys probably knew I released iBase2Go v1.8 on December 18th, 2020. This update came with a lot of new features, datatables, airlines and of course some bug fixes. Since about four month I work on version 2.0 this means, I completely rewritten each individual file. Over 479 files and no one knows how many lines of source code were it be at the end.

Since Virtual Cargo International opened his doors three years ago this major update to version 2.0 is a huge step for me and of course for all pilots who fly with us. Both sides, the front-end and back-end system got major changes which improves stability, performance and of course usability. I was paying attention we can using our page with any mobile devices like a tablet or mobile phone, so check the latest statistics or booking the next flight ends not in a kind of frustration. But everything is optimised for full hd resolution.

I am also happy to say, iBase2Go 2.0 is built completely without any google plugins, functions or API. This might not be affect you in any way but being independently from a large company and using open source is a happy point.

Finally to the important part for you as a pilot and fellow member of Virtual Cargo International. I plan to upgrade the system this coming weekend. iBase2Go and the homepage will go offline and will not be available for approximately 12 hours. In the same process I will clean the database and sort things out which means pilots who are inactive more than a year gets deleted including all their stored data, without the possibility to get restored, except register as a new pilot.

That should be it for now. I do have already plans after the release of 2.0 but those information about further changes in the next newsletter. Thank you very much to everyone who supports our virtual company.
